Now open at the the DathĂșil Gallery of Art is Solitude, an exhibition of photographic works by Cicada. "Solitude is the remoteness from habitations," says the artist in her notes to the show. "The sense of feeling to want to be away from everything. I'd like to be able to get away for a long time, just to think, to plan and to just be. A time to fix myself, fix all things broken, fix everything."
The seventeen images, which include female portraits as well as depictions of vegetation ranging from flowers to cacti, do indeed impart a sense of solitude and quietude, and Cicada's deliberately overexposed light settings impart a dreamy, ethereal appearance. The exhibition will remain on display through the month of May.
